Partitions Many modern homes follow an open floor plan design in which the living room, dining room and kitchen are not separated by any walls. While this design gives the home a generally more spacious and open feel, there is also less privacy—not everybody is comfortable with guests having an open view of their kitchen. This is why subtly partitioning the different areas of the house is beneficial. Instead of using wall panels and room dividers to partition a room, why not use shelves and cabinets which can also function as storage. This is clearly a more space-efficient design.
